Our State Organization-GFWC Virginia

Our state organization was organized in 1907 and we will soon celebrate our 100th birthday. GFWC Virginia unites 261 clubs in 8 districts with approximately 10,000 members.

Barbara Allen is the Junior Director, 3rd Vice President, of Blue Ridge District. She coordinates activities for the five active clubs in the district. Barbara's symbol for 2008-20010 is a Hummingbird.

There are currently four active junior clubs, The GFWC Roanoke Junior Women's Club, GFWC Star City Junior Women's Club, GFWC Blacksburg Junior Woman's Club and GFWC Patrick County Junior Woman's Club.

History of Our Organization

The General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) was founded in 1890. We are one of the world's oldest, nonpartisan, nondenominational women's volunteer service organizations.
