"Socrates said, "To DO is to BE" while Aristotle said, "To BE is to DO".  Then Sinatra came along and added, "DoBeDoBeDo.....".

Song: "I Believe I Can Fly"

The GFWC Virginia Blue Ridge District is one of eight districts comprising the GFWC Virginia federation.  Blue Ridge District includes clubs located in Blacksburg, Bedford, Bent Mountain, Botetourt County, Christiansburg, Floyd County, Radford, Roanoke, Roanoke County, Smith Mountain Lake, Patrick County, and Vinton. Currently there are eighteen active clubs in this district.

Women who belong to these federated clubs work on projects and programs in the areas of

  • Art
  • Conservation
  • Education
  • Home Life
  • International Affairs
  • Public Affairs

Club members work on projects in their local communities and also provide support to district, state, and international projects. A good example of this cooperation is the effort clubs give to Operation Smile. Local clubs make 'smile bags' for the Operation Smile team to take with them overseas when they make mission trips to perform surgery on children who have facial deformities. Clubs also donate funds to enable the medical team to make the trip. Club women throughout our Commonwealth have participated on teams and contributed their personal time to make a difference in a child's life.

Operation Smile

Not only do club women belong to their local organization, by joining a federated women's club, they are members of GFWC Virginia and the General Federation of Women's Clubs headquartered in Washington, D.C.
